E-Learning Days

E-Learning Days to Replace Inclement Weather Days When Possible

While it is always preferred to have CCSD93's schools open for in-person learning, it is important for parents to know that inclement weather scenarios may cause CCSD93 to pivot to E-Learning Days under very specific circumstances.

What is an E-Learning Day?

An E-Learning Day would be a very finite, temporary scenario where students would learn from home. Students would be provided with at least five clock hours of instruction/school work on the given E-Learning Day. Their attendance would be monitored, just as it would if they were attending school in person.

When Would an E-Learning Day Take Place?

CCSD93 would only institute an E-Learning Day in a scenario where an impending emergency, like extreme cold or snowfall, were known to be imminent during the school day prior or earlier. This would allow our educators to ensure all students are sent home with the proper materials and learning tools to participate in the E-Learning Day. In general, E-Learning Days would NOT be announced as a multiple-day scenario. If an emergency were to extend over multiple days, the decision to institute an E-Learning Day would be evaluated on a day-by-day basis. An E-Learning Day is NOT intended to be used for long-term emergency situations.

Why Would CCSD93 Use an E-Learning Day?

The main reason CCSD93 would use an E-Learning Day would be to ensure a day of student attendance is not postponed so that CCSD93’s students are able to conclude the school year within the established school year calendar.

All K-5 grade level students would follow this schedule:

What Would the E-Learning School Day Schedule Be For Preschool Students?
Preschool families would receive information about their school day from the ECC.

When and How Would Families be Informed of an E-Learning Day?
CCSD93 would inform families of an E-Learning Day as early as possible after it has become clear that in-person learning is not feasible. There might also be scenarios when weather is questionable where students are sent home with materials to potentially participate in an E-Learning Day if necessary. In these cases a decision on the use of the E-Learning Day may be made the evening prior or the morning of the school day. CCSD93 will communicate with families regarding the implementation of an E-Learning day using the same methods for communication as inclement weather days, including call, text and email notification. Visit www.ccsd93.com/inclementweather for more information on these communication methods.
