Info on Cloverdale Yellow Schedule - 5/1/19

May 1, 2019

Dear Cloverdale School Parents:

The following information is being sent to inform you of a situation that occurred at Cloverdale School today and is not intended to alarm you.

At approximately 8:44 a.m., a Yellow Schedule was called to address a student in need of assistance. During a Yellow Schedule, students stay in classrooms while learning continues and do not enter the hallways. Because this Yellow Schedule was called just before the start of the school day, students who were not yet in their classrooms were escorted to the nearest classroom or office where they remained for the duration of the Yellow Schedule. This practice is part of our district-wide Crisis Plan. The intent of a Yellow Schedule is to preserve the integrity and safety of the individual in need as well as the safety of the rest of the students and staff in our building.

The student was in need of assistance in the Cloverdale parking lot, and staff became concerned for the student’s safety. As part of the district-wide Crisis Plan, each CCSD93 school, including Cloverdale, has several staff members who are specially trained to employ researched-based practices and procedures developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to assist students in need whose safety may be compromised. Cloverdale’s CPI-trained staff members utilized these procedures during this morning’s Yellow Schedule to assist the student in need.

The student’s needs were met, and the student will continue to receive the support they need moving forward. The Yellow Schedule concluded at approximately 9:27 a.m., at which time students were able to enter the hallways, and those who had not yet arrived to their proper classroom did so.

Student safety is our highest priority. I thank our students and staff members for their cooperation with today’s Yellow Schedule and for following directions. I know an incident like this can bring forth questions from students, so it is important that you are aware of the situation if your child discusses it with you. Please contact me at or 630-588-5300 if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
