Monday Announcements, 13th January






Lunchroom supervisors will be coming today to record names of friends you are interested in sitting with at lunch. New tables will be assigned either tomorrow or Wednesday.

When selecting friends to sit with, make good decisions about people who listen to directions, keep a clean table, and get along with others. Respectful, Responsible, Safe.



On Friday and Saturday, Jay Stream Middle School hosted the 20th annual Jayhawk Jam basketball tournament. This fun, competitive, two-day event featured 8 schools from different communities.

The 7th-grade team won their first game against Westfield 29 to 23 and won. They beat Churchville 45 to 36 in the second game. In the championship game, the Jayhawks battled a very talented team from Jefferson. The Jayhawks came up short 33 to 36 but earned a well-deserved second place trophy. Congratulations to the entire team!

The 8th-grade team won their first game vs. 24-17 vs. Jefferson. The 8th-grade team competed hard in the next two games losing to Westfield and Churchville in close contests.

The 7th-grade team opens the conference tournament tomorrow at home vs. Monroe right after school. The 8th-grade team goes on the road to battle Edison. Good luck to both teams tomorrow! Go Jayhawks!



The Jay Stream Math Team participated in the junior high math contest at St.

Francis High School this past Saturday. Despite being one of the youngest teams

at the competition, the Jayhawks took 7th place as a school in the AA division.

Team members included eighth graders Dylan Lynch, Ashwin Nair, and Vini Patel;

seventh graders Mahi Patel, Nikhil Kodali, Corvin Dang, and Dylan Xianto; and

sixth graders Sophia Atanossov and Rodrigo Orozco. In addition, Nikhil placed 3rd

among seventh graders in the individual contest. Way to go, mathletes!



The Jayhawk Wrestling Team concluded their season at Hubbell Middle School on Saturday at the IPAC Tournament in Warrenville. The entire team wrestled well and showed a lot of poise and pride. Congratulations to Conference Champion Miguel Miranda in the 122 lbs weight class. Congratulation also go out to 3rd Place medalist Brody Hill at 166 lbs, and 4th Place medalist Joey Trimarco at 95 lbs, Marcos Mendieta at 215 lbs. and Cristian Duran at 275 lbs. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Wrestlers and Managers are invited to a pizza party after school to celebrate a great season of growth and sportsmanship. Please bring your CLEAN, I repeat, CLEAN sweats, headgear and singlets, eat some pizza and start thinking about next year. Well done Wrestlers!!
