Dear CCSD93 Early Childhood Center (ECC) Monday Morning Parents,
The purpose of this letter is to keep you informed regarding a situation that occurred at the ECC this morning at school. All children are completely safe.
Details from this morning’s situation:
- At approximately 9:42 a.m., an older adult male was observed within the bushes outside of the ECC’s property line.
- The individual did not come into physical contact with anyone on our property.
- There was no direct communication between the individual and any students.
- The individual was NOT observed engaging in any inappropriate behavior.
- Immediately upon seeing the individual, the teachers whose classes were outside brought students inside. Our administrators called police and implemented a Secure the Building & Teach Schedule.
A Secure the Building and Teach Schedule is part of CCSD93’s Crisis Plan. In it, individuals are prohibited from entering or exiting the building. Students and staff members move freely throughout the building and continue learning as usual. The intent of a Secure the Building and Teach Schedule is to preserve the safety of those within the building until an irregular or potentially threatening situation outside of the building is resolved.
Within minutes the Bloomingdale Police Department arrived and confronted the individual. From their investigation, they were able to verify that the individual was completing work related to drainage infrastructure for nearby business owners, and that nothing inappropriate occurred. The police made clear that this work must not take place during school hours moving forward.
At approximately 10:17 a.m., the Secure the Building and Teach Schedule ended when the Bloomingdale Police Department informed us that it was safe to do so. At no point were any students, staff or community members in danger.
Student and staff member safety is our highest priority and I thank our students and staff members for their cooperation during today’s Secure the Building and Teach Schedule. Estimados padres del Centro de Primera Infancia (ECC) CCSD93, lunes por la mañana:
El propósito de esta carta es mantenerlos informados sobre una situación ocurrida esta mañana en el ECC. Todos los niños están completamente a salvo.
Detalles de la situación de esta mañana:
- Aproximadamente a las 9:42 am, se observó a un hombre adulto mayor dentro de los arbustos afuera del límite de propiedad del ECC.
- El individuo no entró en contacto físico con nadie en nuestra propiedad.
- No hubo comunicación directa entre el individuo y ningún estudiante.
- NO se observó que el individuo tuviera ningún comportamiento inapropiado.
- Inmediatamente después de ver al individuo, los profesores cuyas clases estaban en el exterior llevaron a los estudiantes al interior. Nuestros administradores llamaron a la policía e implementaron un horario de seguridad en el edificio y enseñanza.
El Plan de Crisis del CCSD93 incluye un Horario de Seguridad del Edificio y Enseñanza. Este programa prohíbe la entrada y salida del edificio. Los estudiantes y el personal se mueven libremente por el edificio y continúan sus estudios con normalidad. El objetivo de este horario es preservar la seguridad de quienes se encuentran dentro del edificio hasta que se resuelva cualquier situación irregular o potencialmente amenazante fuera del mismo.
En cuestión de minutos, el Departamento de Policía de Bloomingdale llegó y confrontó al individuo. Tras la investigación, pudieron verificar que estaba realizando trabajos relacionados con la infraestructura de drenaje para los dueños de negocios cercanos y que no ocurrió nada inapropiado. La policía dejó claro que, de ahora en adelante, estos trabajos no debían realizarse durante el horario escolar.
Aproximadamente a las 10:17 a. m. , finalizó el horario de seguridad del edificio y clases cuando el Departamento de Policía de Bloomingdale nos informó que era seguro hacerlo . En ningún momento hubo peligro para los estudiantes, el personal ni los miembros de la comunidad.
La seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal es nuestra máxima prioridad y agradezco a nuestros estudiantes y personal su cooperación durante el programa "Asegurar el Edificio y Enseñar" de hoy.
