Important Update for CCSD93 Parents Regarding the Dual Language Program - 2/25/20

February 25, 2020

Dear CCSD93 Community,

This message is to inform you that CCSD93’s Dual Language program will remain in place at Cloverdale, Elsie Johnson, and Roy DeShane for the 2020-21 school year, and no students will be relocated next school year as a result.

I thank each member of our community who has taken the time to express support or concern for potential consolidation of the Dual Language program. I am grateful for those who were able to attend or watch our Town Hall Meeting to learn more about the background and potential scenarios and ask critical clarifying questions. Your dialogue, feedback and questions have given us more to consider as we seek to make a decision that is in the best interest of all of our students.

I am also appreciative of the work of our Dual Language Committee. As we strive to achieve our Mission of maximizing the academic, social, and emotional potential of each student, it is essential that each child in CCSD93 has equitable access to all of the components of the world class educational experience that we provide. The Committee identified that, despite our best efforts, students in the Dual Language program inherently may not have all of the opportunities that their non-Dual Language peers have.

With all of this in mind, we will expand our Dual Language Committee to include the parent voice as we look to find ways to provide every CCSD93 student with complete access to all that we have to offer. The newly-expanded Committee will continue to research, consider scenarios, and look at every option so that we can eventually make the best possible decision for the benefit of all students. As a CCSD93 parent, I ask you to consider lending your perspective to our Dual Language Committee. If you are interested in doing so, please fill out the form linked at http://www.ccsd93.com/DLCommittee

We care deeply about the educational atmosphere of every CCSD93 student, and with your help, we will better meet the needs of each.

Sincerely,

David H. Hill, Ed.D.
