A Note to Heritage Lakes Families Regarding Today's Fire Alarm 2/7/20

February 7, 2020

Dear Heritage Lakes School Parents,

This message is being sent to keep you informed of a situation that occurred at Heritage Lakes School today. At approximately 11:35 a.m., the fire alarm sounded. All Heritage Lakes students and staff members immediately evacuated the building, per building and District crisis procedures, and gathered in designated areas outside. All students and staff were safely accounted for within minutes.

Students and staff remained outside for approximately 5 minutes while the Carol Stream Fire Department checked the building, and no fire or smoke was located. It was quickly determined that a visitor had inadvertently pulled the alarm. The Fire Department gave the all-clear and permission to reenter the building at approximately 11:40 a.m.

Student and staff safety is our highest priority. Our students did a wonderful job of evacuating the building quickly and acted respectfully throughout the situation. I am extremely proud of them for demonstrating terrific Husky behavior.

Please feel free to contact me at 630-588-6200 or yelaskb@ccsd93.com if you have any questions regarding this information.

Thank you,
