Dear Heritage Lakes Parents,

Community Build

We're so excited that our students will have a new playground at Heritage Lakes School for the 2021-22 school year, thanks in large part to our PTA.  But first we need to build it!  We are seeking 20 adult volunteers to assist with completing our Playground Community Build on Sunday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Our friends at Team REIL Inc. will guide us through the build so you don't need experience in construction, but you must be 18 years of age or older, and unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask.  We'd love for you to join us!

Please complete the form by clicking on the link below (9/26/21 Playground Community Build) by Friday, September 17 to volunteer.  You'll receive an automated email confirming your submission, and we'll reach out closer to the event to confirm your volunteer time slot.  While it would be great if volunteers were able to commit for the day, there are half-day volunteer options as well if you can’t commit to the whole day.

I appreciate the continued support from our PTA.  While last year and this year have been different based on Covid guidelines our Heritage Lakes PTA has always found a way to ensure that the students/staff and community feel supported.  We hope that you will join us for PTA meetings as they will be in person this school year and will take place at 6:00 p.m.  Our first PTA meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. on September 27.

Be Respectful Survey

Each school year we teach schoolwide expectations by introducing students to the three B’s. Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Good Citizen.  In an effort to increase everyone’s understanding of what it means to be respectful we have been charged with further defining what it looks like to give and get respect.  Please take a moment to click on the link below to provide HLS PBIS with some feedback on what you believe being respectful means to you.

The bus supervisors at Heritage Lakes are doing their very best job to ensure that students arrive and exit school in a safe manner and they need your help.  If you are planning on dropping your child off and leaving please circle through the middle of the parking lot and drop your child off by the sidewalk on the West side of the building.  Please refrain from dropping students in the middle of the parking lot.  If you want to walk your child to the front entrance you will need to park in the back of the parking lot and walk them to the building (please use the crosswalk).

The police department has received traffic complaints regarding people turning northbound on Knollwood from Woodhill during drop off and pick up of students.  Please note that you may not travel Northbound on Knollwood from Woodhill during pick up and drop off of students at HLS. There will be police presence in the area for these violations.

Be The I in Kind

I’m attaching a Kind Bingo Board for any families that want to play along. Please take a moment to review the rules and we hope you will play along.  Basically, if you complete a row of KIND Bingo or complete the entire card, students can take a picture with their family and BINGO card and email the picture to Mr. Gallina. Pictures will be posted on the bulletin board outside of the Husky Den.
