The following information is being sent to inform you of a situation that occurred at Jay Stream Middle School today. It is not intended to alarm you.
At approximately 9:17 a.m., a Yellow Schedule was called to address the needs of a student. In a Yellow Schedule, students remain in their classrooms while learning continues and do not enter the hallways. This practice is part of our district-wide Crisis Plan. The intent of a Yellow Schedule is to preserve the integrity and safety of the individual in need as well as the safety of the rest of the students and staff in our building.
In this instance, students stayed in their classrooms through the passing period. Students and staff responded appropriately to the Yellow Schedule by following directions. The Yellow Schedule concluded at 9:26 a.m. after the needs were met, at which point we held a passing period for students to travel to their next class.
I thank our students and staff members for their cooperation with today’s Yellow Schedule. Our first priority is student safety and wellbeing. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at 630-588-5200.
