Child Assault Prevention Parent Info Night Rescheduled to 2/4/19

Dear CCSD93 Parents of 1st & 4th Graders,

Every year our 1st and 4th graders participate in the Child Assault Prevention Project (CAPs) program.  The YWCA sends staff to facilitate discussion and focus on the following:

  1. Bullying – children will learn about the importance of being respected and respecting others, options victim(s) have, and the role that bystanders have in preventing bullying.
  2. Stranger Assault – children will learn about listening to their instincts, some self-defense techniques, and what to do if approached by a stranger.
  3. Known Adult Assault – children will learn that their body is their own, the difference between good and bad secrets, and what to do if someone they know and trust hurts them.

For parents who would like to know more about the CAPs program, we offer a Parent Information Night. The Parent Information Night was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 22, 2019 but needed to be rescheduled due to inclement weather. It has been rescheduled to Monday, February 4, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. at Heritage Lakes Elementary School (925 Woodhill Drive in Carol Stream). If you’re interested in finding out more about the CAPs program, please join us!
