Dear Carol Stream Elementary School Community,

This message is being sent to keep you informed of a situation that occurred at Carol Stream Elementary School today. All students are completely safe. At approximately 10:06 a.m., the fire alarm sounded. All Carol Stream students and staff members immediately evacuated the building, per building and District crisis procedures, and were safely accounted for within minutes.

The Carol Stream Police and Fire Departments arrived quickly and assessed the situation. It was determined that during our school’s field day events today, a smoke detector in the gymnasium was inadvertently triggered by a ball, causing the alarm to activate. At no time was there any threat to student or staff safety. The Fire Department gave the all-clear and permission to reenter the building at approximately 10:20 a.m.

The safety of those within our building is our highest priority. I am grateful to our students and staff for calmly following our evacuation procedures as well as the Carol Stream Police and Fire Departments for their leadership and assistance. Estimada comunidad de la escuela primaria Carol Stream:

Este mensaje se envía para mantenerlos informados sobre una situación que ocurrió hoy en la Escuela Primaria Carol Stream. Todos los estudiantes se encuentran completamente a salvo. Aproximadamente a las 10:06 a. m., sonó la alarma de incendios. Todos los estudiantes y el personal de Carol Stream evacuaron el edificio de inmediato, siguiendo los procedimientos de crisis del edificio y del Distrito, y fueron localizados sanos y salvos en cuestión de minutos.

Los departamentos de Policía y Bomberos de Carol Stream llegaron rápidamente y evaluaron la situación. Se determinó que, durante las actividades de la jornada escolar de hoy, un detector de humo en el gimnasio se activó accidentalmente con una pelota, lo que provocó la activación de la alarma. En ningún momento se presentó amenaza alguna para la seguridad de los estudiantes ni del personal. El Departamento de Bomberos dio el visto bueno y autorizó el reingreso al edificio aproximadamente a las 10:20 a. m.

La seguridad de quienes se encuentran en nuestro edificio es nuestra máxima prioridad. Agradezco a nuestros estudiantes y personal por seguir con calma los procedimientos de evacuación, así como a los departamentos de Policía y Bomberos de Carol Stream por su liderazgo y asistencia.
