Corinne McCabe, Principal
Corinne McCabe has been in education for nineteen years. Throughout her career, she has taught multiple grade levels, supported teachers and students through her instructional coaching position, and served the students, families, and staff as Assistant Principal of Roy DeShane. She is thrilled to continue partnering with the families of Carol Stream School this Fall.
Corinne holds a Master of Educational Leadership from DePaul University, a Master of Science in Special Education-High Incidence from the University of Kansas, and is currently in the dissertation writing phase of a Doctor of Educational Technology degree from Central Michigan University. Most recently, Corinne obtained her certification in Applied Educational Neuroscience through Butler University. Ms. McCabe has also worked at the university level as an adjunct professor with both graduate and undergraduate students in the education field.
On a more personal note, Ms. McCabe resides in St. Charles and comes from a family of teachers. She enjoys being active, running, and playing softball as much as she can. You may even find her playing kickball, basketball, or swinging on the playground with students at recess!
Ms. McCabe is passionate about the importance of education in our society and is devoted to the field. She is looking forward to working with the staff, students, and families to ensure the success of all students at Carol Stream School.
Matthew Carlson, Assistant Principal
My name is Matthew Carlson, and it is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the new Assistant Principal at Carol Stream Elementary School. I am honored to extend my warmest greetings to every one of you.
On a personal note, I reside in Carpentersville with my wife, Catherine, our children, Amelia (2) and Crew (born 1/20/24), and our dog, Ziggy. With years of experience in education, primarily focused on Special Education, Curriculum Development, Case Management, and Student-Centered Instruction, I bring a passion for learning and a dedication to empowering students and educators.
As the Assistant Principal, my primary goal will be to work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and staff to foster an environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement. I am committed to upholding the values and principles that make Carol Stream Elementary a beacon of learning and inclusivity.
I believe that education is multifaceted. I believe in learning but also in maximizing the students’ fullest potential. With this in mind, I am dedicated to providing resources and support to ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Furthermore, I am committed to maintaining open lines of communication and transparency. Whether you have a question, or concern, or simply want to share your ideas, my door is always open, and I welcome your input with an open mind.
I look forward to getting to know each of you better, working together and alongside Ms. McCabe to make Carol Stream Elementary School the best it can be. Together, I am confident that we can achieve great things and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and the broader community.
