Ways to earn PAWS:
Students can earn Jaguar Paws by displaying behavior on the PBIS matrix. These Paws are given by any staff member (administrators, teachers, assistants, front office staff, cafeteria employees, bus drivers, and custodians) so there are opportunities to earn them throughout the day and throughout the school. Displaying proper behavior and attitude (Being Respectful, Being Responsible, and Being Proud) will earn plenty of Paws. Students will be given the opportunity throughout the year to "spend" the Paws they have collected using the Redemption Cart.
Redemption Cart:
The Redemption Cart is full of goodies from candy to pencils to spirit sticks that students choose to redeem when they turn in their paws. Each item on the cart has a “paw price”. Students count their paws and once a month the cart comes to each classroom. There, students have the opportunity to choose which prizes they want and use their paws to buy their prizes!
Cool Tools:
Each month, the PBIS team reviews data from minors or majors to see what behavior requires reteaching the following month. All Cool Tools are displayed in classrooms as well as reviewed with students by all staff members.Consequences:
Students who do not comply with behaviors in the matrix will have consequences as stated on the Referral Forms used by the entire school.
Spirit Sticks:
Spirit Sticks are embroidered patches that students can earn, collect, and display on a Spirit key ring. Spirit Sticks help to promote school spirit and participation. This is the first year that students have earned Spirit Sticks. Students earn spirit sticks by receiving no majors or minors, attending Parent/Teacher conferences, turning in important papers, etc… You may have noticed a ring on your child's backpack at home!
Celebrations:
After the end of each trimester, the PBIS team celebrates the positive behaviors that students have displayed at an all school assembly.
