• How Can Parents Support CICO at Home?


    Parents will receive a copy of their student’s point sheet every day.  We would encourage you to set aside a few minutes every day to have a conversation about their day.  Below are a few tips for supporting your child with this intervention:

    • Focus on the positive (comment on all the 2’s they receive)

    • Praising any “Wow” comments

    • Congratulate them if they make their goal

    • If they have Try Again’s, try not to focus on “what went wrong” and instead ask “what can you do to change this for tomorrow?”

      • Naturally as a parent you may be curious what happened that resulted in a “Try Again,” but we highly encourage you to focus on the future, and what things went right that day. Research behind this type of intervention shows this is the most effective way to make change in behavior.
