Dear CCSD93 Parents,

CCSD93 will be hosting a program called Be Seen and Heard©, a child sexual abuse prevention program for all students. It is designed to create an age-appropriate, safe and engaging environment where students will learn about the difference between safe and unsafe touch, the difference between safe and unsafe secrets and the importance of speaking up to trusted heroes and adults. This program is in its fourth year with CCSD93 and is designed to meet a state mandate called Erin’s Law, which Illinois and 37 other states have adopted to help combat child sexual abuse. 

The Be Seen and Heard© program will be delivered to all CCSD93 students during their school day on the following dates: 

• Early Childhood Center - January 16, 2025
• Carol Stream School - January 14, 2025
• Cloverdale School - January 14 & 15, 2025
• Elsie Johnson School - January 17, 2025
• Heritage Lakes School - January 17, 2025
• Roy DeShane School - January 16, 2025
• Western Trails School - January 21, 2025
• Jay Stream Middle School - January 22-24, 2025
• Stratford Middle School - January 22-24, 2025

Please note the following important information:

• At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 16, parents are invited to attend a virtual information meeting to preview the concepts of the Be Seen and Heard© program prior to the schools holding the presentations. You will be emailed a Zoom link the afternoon of Monday, December 16 to use if you would like to attend the virtual meeting.
• For more information about Be Seen and Heard©, visit this webpage.
• To opt your child out of participating in the program, you must fill out this form by the evening prior to your child’s school events.

Estimados padres del CCSD93:

El CCSD93 organizará un programa llamado Be Seen and Heard©, un programa de prevención del abuso sexual infantil para todos los estudiantes. Está diseñado para crear un entorno apropiado para la edad, seguro y atractivo donde los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la diferencia entre el contacto físico seguro e inseguro, la diferencia entre secretos seguros e inseguros y la importancia de hablar con héroes y adultos de confianza. Este programa está en su cuarto año con el CCSD93 y está diseñado para cumplir con un mandato estatal llamado Ley de Erin , que Illinois y otros 37 estados han adoptado para ayudar a combatir el abuso sexual infantil.
