Dear Community Member:
It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Superintendent of Schools for Community Consolidated School District 93. CCSD93 is located in northwestern DuPage County, Illinois. Our District is home to more than 3,300 students and is composed of one preschool, six elementary schools (grades K-5), and two middle schools (grades 6-8). The majority of our families live in Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, and Hanover Park.
As a school district, we believe that it is important for our Strategic Plan to guide our actions in order to meet our mission of maximizing the academic, social and emotional potential of each student.
CCSD93’s Strategic Plan develops the framework for the utilization of world-class educational practices, in partnership with the parents, staff and community. We hope that you will refer to our Strategic Plan at www.ccsd93.com/StrategicPlan for a closer look at what District 93 is all about. In it you will find the District’s vision, goals, strategies, and core values detailed. It also provides performance targets by which success can be measured over the coming years.
In keeping with our Strategic Plan, the district has implemented character development initiatives which are intended to reach beyond the classroom. The community is invited and encouraged to learn more about our primary character development initiative, PBIS, at www.ccsd93.com/PBIS.
We strive to work together with the communities we serve and welcome your involvement. With responsive and progressive leadership and support from staff and families, we will maintain sound practices, inspire each other, build support, and most importantly, continue to cultivate positive student learning experiences that will prepare students to be college and career ready.
If you have questions or comments, we would like to hear from you. Please feel free to email us at reply@ccsd93.com, fill out our online form at www.ccsd93.com/Contact, call us at 630-893-9393, or stop in or write us at 230 Covington Drive, Bloomingdale, IL 60108.

Heritage Lakes Hatchings: Learning About Chicks in 1st Grade
In 1st grade, a key learning standard that students explore is lifecycles, and a terrific example is that of a chicken. During the springtime, many CCSD93 1st graders examine these birds’ development firsthand by hosting and observing eggs from incubation to hatched chicks in their classrooms. Find out more about what Heritage Lakes students learned from the experience!
Kids Heart Challenge in CCSD93!
For more than 20 years, CCSD93 elementary schools have proudly participated in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, raising funds for lifesaving heart research while promoting physical activity and emotional wellbeing. Western Trails Students See the Potential!
For American Education Week, Western Trails hosted themed days highlighting the efforts of the school and its students all week. Today, they capped it all off with “See the Potential Day," where students were encouraged to think and talk about what they want to be when they’re older, including future aspirations for jobs, higher education or careers. They were invited to represent the day by wearing a shirt of their favorite school or university.
Jay Stream Students Explore Potential Professions at Career Day!
Jay Stream Middle School hosted Career Day in partnership with Junior Achievement. All students visited their choice of three out of nearly 30 professionals who were on hand representing a wide variety of potential careers, including lawyers, an electrician, an engineer, police officers, researchers, realtors, a video producer, several medical specialists, firefighters and many more.
CCSD93 Summer STEAM Camp 2024!
Over 300 students from CCSD93 took part in Summer STEAM Camp. They collaborated on hands-on projects with peers from across the district, focusing on a different aspect of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math each morning!
Carol Stream 5th Graders Leave Legacy Behind Through Published Works!
Before moving on from Carol Stream Elementary, the school’s 5th graders created works to leave their mark on the school. Collaborating in small groups, they storyboarded, wrote, animated and published fictional narratives where characters employ the “3 P’s”--perseverance, productive struggle and problem solving--to find success. Each group’s Legacy Book was bound into a physical copy and gifted to a younger grade’s class, where it will live on in the classroom library to teach others how to overcome obstacles for years to come! Watch this video to find out more!
Heritage Lakes School Friday Live Announcements
Every Friday at Heritage Lakes, the entire school tunes in to important updates being broadcast in real time from the school’s Innovation Center, produced by the dedicated members of the Live Announcements Club.

It started out for 4th and 5th graders, and now 3rd graders are learning the game of kings, while the older students are invited to return as expert coaches! Check out this video for more!
Egg Wars at Jay Stream: Yolk Love It
For decades, Jay Stream 7th graders have participated in Egg Wars! Students start out by designing a device meant to protect an egg, and as they learn concepts of physics throughout the trimester, they continuously tweak its design applying what they've learned to best protect their egg.
Dual Language 4th Graders Take on Cross-District Project
4th grade students in CCSD93’s Dual Language program recently wrote imaginative stories, recorded themselves reading them aloud and posted them to FlipGrid, an educational video sharing app. They then worked together across the District by watching the videos of their peers at Cloverdale, Elsie Johnson and Heritage Lakes. It was a terrific opportunity for the students to practice their oracy and collaborate with classmates from different schools!
Elsie Johnson Students Identify What Makes Their School Special
Recently, Elsie Johnson 1st graders completed a social studies unit on special locations by identifying what makes their school special to them. Each made a patch of their unique perspective, and the patches have been combined into a grade-wide quilt that celebrates the school!
CCSD93 Middle School Wellness Rooms: Proactively Meeting Students' Social and Emotional Needs
Each CCSD93 middle school is introducing a Wellness Room as a new facet of SEL in CCSD93. District behavior data indicates that a significant need among many students is the ability to self-regulate their emotions, and Wellness Rooms are calming spaces intentionally designed and operated to meet this very need.
